Yankee fans have waited since early October to watch their team in meaningful action, and after a week delay due to the lockout, the wait will have to be a bit longer.

The team announced Wednesday morning that Opening Day on Thursday has been postponed, with heavy rain expected all day in the Bronx. The season opener against the Red Sox has been rescheduled to Friday at 1:05 p.m.

Fans with tickets to Thursday’s game will be able to use them on Friday, or exchange them for tickets to a similar regular season game. The pitching matchup likely won’t change, just an extra day of rest for both Gerrit Cole and Nathan Eovaldi.
