Must-Watch MLB National TV Games in 2020 60-Game Season

Major League Baseball announced its 60-game regular season schedule on Monday, which begins on July 23 and ends on Sept. 27.

Team will play 40 games within its own division and 20 games against teams from the corresponding geographical division.

Obviously, with a new schedule also comes a new TV schedule with plenty of nationally-televised to tune into as fans will not be able to attend games in person, although some owners are hopeful that will change.

While there are still legitimate concerns about whether or not the season will be played in its entirety due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is likely MLB’s only chance to fit in a season in 2020.

Here are the nationally televised games (all times Eastern; subject to change)

New York Yankees at Washington Nationals, 7 p.m., ESPN

San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers, 10 p.m., ESPN

The MLB season is scheduled to open with a doubleheader. First, the 2020 World Series favorites New York Yankees squaring off against the defending World Series champion Washington Nationals in what should be a pitcher’s duel between aces Gerrit Cole – making his Yankees debut – and Max Scherzer.

The NL World Series favorites – the Los Angeles Dodgers – will face the San Francisco Giants as Mookie Betts makes his Dodger debut against Johnny Cueto and the Giants.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets, 4 p.m., ESPN

Detroit Tigers at Cincinnati Reds, 6:10 p.m., MLB Network

Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs, 7 p.m., ESPN

Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros, 9:10 p.m., MLB Network

Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Athletics, 10 p.m., ESPN

Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs, 1 p.m., FOX

Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals, 2:15 p.m., MLB Network

San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers, 4:10 p.m., FOX

New York Yankees at Washington Nationals, 7:15 p.m., FOX

Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres, 9:10 p.m., FS1

New York Yankees at Washington Nationals, 1:05 p.m., TBS

Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Athletics, 4:10 p.m., MLB Network

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets, 7 p.m., ESPN

San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers, 10 p.m., ESPN

This is the lone scheduled Sunday Night Baseball matchup that won’t feature the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs or Cardinals or Phillies as the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets get the spotlight in the opening weekend, followed by the Giants and Dodgers again on the West Coast in an ESPN doubleheader.

Boston Red Sox at New York Mets OR Cleveland Indians at Minnesota Twins, 7 p.m. FOX

FOX has two games scheduled for nine of its 10 national TV spots throughout the course of the season. Which games viewers will get may depend on regional blackout restrictions.

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees OR Houston Astros at Los Angeles Angels, 7 p.m., FOX

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees, 7 p.m., ESPN

Chicago Cubs at Kansas City Royals OR Houston Astros at Arizona Diamondbacks, 7 p.m., FOX

Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals, 7 p.m., ESPN

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago White Sox, 7:15 p.m., FOX

The Cardinals and White Sox will be squaring off in Dyersville, Iowa for MLB’s inaugural Field of Dreams game. This was originally slated to be between the White Sox and Yankees, but MLB adjusted the matchups because of the new schedule, which limits the travel and opponents to within the division.

It will be the first MLB game played in the state of Iowa.

There seems to be a trend on who gets the majority of nationally televised games, huh?

Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves, 7 p.m., ESPN

The Braves are back on Sunday Night Baseball, but this time with a new NL East foe in the Phillies as these two teams will likely be fighting for positioning in a jam-packed division where every game will carry plenty of weight.

St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs, 7 p.m. ESPN

Houston Astros at Los Angeles Dodgers OR Cleveland Indians at Minnesota Twins, 8 p.m., FOX

Ah, now this will be must-see TV when the Astros travel to LA to face the Dodgers in a rematch of the now-tainted 2017 World Series following the Houston sign-stealing scandal. Those in the Midwest, however, will get Indians and Twins, which could have major ramifications in the AL Central.

The matchups for the final two Sunday Night Baseball games will be determined up to two weeks prior to the date.

New York Mets at Washington Nationals OR Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals , 7 p.m., FOX

The final nationally televised FOX games will both be NL matchups. With two games remaining in the season, it is possible that these games could decide playoff berths and seedings.
