Major League Soccer is suspending its season for 30 days in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
“Our clubs were united today in the decision to temporarily suspend our season -- based on the advice and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and other public health authorities, and in the best interest of our fans, players, officials and employees,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a news release.
Garber added that the league and clubs will communicate "at the appropriate time" about continuing the season.

The Concacaf Champions League, of which NYCFC is a member, is also suspending play.
On Wednesday night, the NBA became the first major pro sports league to suspend play after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert was diagnosed with coronavirus.
