
Pittsburgh had acquired Kahun in the offseason from the Chicago Blackhawks in a deal involving defenseman Olli Maatta. In his rookie season in Chicago, the 24-year-old scored 13 goals and registered 24 assists for 37 points in a full 82-game schedule.
The native of Planá, Czech Republic was signed as a free agent in May of 2018 by the Blackhawks after spending three years in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in Germany playing with EHC München.
Kahun will be a restricted free agent at the end of the 2019-20 season.
Rodrigues was a college free agent signing of the Sabres back in 2015 after completing his four-year college career with Boston University. He appeared in 192 career games with the Sabres over the course of five seasons, scoring a total of 26 goals and amassing 45 assists for 71 points.
The newly acquired Penguins forward will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
The Sabres acquired Sheary during the summer of 2018 from the Penguins in a trade that also brought in defenseman Matt Hunwick for a conditional fourth round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
In parts of two seasons with the Sabres, Sheary was able to produce 23 goals and 30 assists for 53 points in 133 games played. This season in 55 games, the 27-year-old scored nine goals and picked up 10 assists for 19 points.
Sheary began his NHL career as a college free agent signing of the Penguins out of University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and went on to play three seasons in Pittsburgh with 48 goals and 45 assists for 93 points in 184 games. He also had three productive playoff runs for the Penguins, accounting for six goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 57 games, while also helping Pittsburgh to two Stanley Cup wins in 2016 and 2017.
The winger is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
