Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Following an abysmal performance from the Buffalo Bills offense last week against the Miami Dolphins, the unit responded in a big way during a 44-32 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
Leading the way for the Bills was the reigning NFL MVP, as quarterback Josh Allen accounted for 357 total yards of offense and six touchdowns - three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns. It is the second time in as many seasons in which Allen has achieved such a feat, and he's the only player in league history to account for three touchdowns through the air and three scores on the ground in a single game.
Allen knows that consistency is the key for this Bills team in the final stretch of the season.
"We've got to do a good job on not riding the wave, trying to stay as level as possible, not getting too high and not getting too low," said Allen following Sunday's win. "Starting off 4-0, people said we're the best team in the world, then we lose two in-a-row and now we're the worst team in the world. We don't want to ride that wave. We just want to stay here, stay consistent, continue to work hard, put together game plans to go out there and execute every game."
Special teams also played a big part in Buffalo's win on Sunday. A number of solid kick returns helped the Bills offense start drives with great field position throughout the game.
"I'm proud of how they returned today, and that's huge for an offense to win the field position like that," Allen said. "I think as we talked about, it's a three-phase game. I think we won all three phases today, if you take away the first two possessions on offense. I'm proud of our guys."
