Pittsford, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Training camp continues to roll along for the Buffalo Bills at St. John Fisher University, as Thursday's practice in Rochester was the last before the team takes part in Friday's "Return of the Blue and Red" practice in front of the fans at Highmark Stadium.

After that, only a handful of practices remain at training camp before things wrap up in Rochester and the live game action begins with the preseason.

Following the conclusion of Thursday's practice, Bills quarterback Josh Allen fielded questions from the media, talking about a number of different topics, including some of the rookies as they come along at camp.

One of those talented rookies Allen highlighted in his press conference was fifth-round pick out of Boise State University, wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

“He’s done a pretty good job in terms of learning the offense," said Allen in the media tent on Thursday. "He’s been switching up from Z to F, and he’s a smart kid who runs good routes.”

Allen went a bit further in his commentary on Shakir, saying that he just wants to get on the field and isn’t complaining about his role.

“He’s just trying to find his role with this team, and he’s doing a really good job,” Allen said.

Something that has been very noticeable at practices during training camp has been the number of fights and altercations between players on the field. Allen was part of an altercation during one of last week's practices with Jordan Phillips, but Allen downplayed it when asked about it.

"Tempers fly. It was first day of pads, camp's long," Allen said. "I was probably in the wrong there, but again, just trying to get some guys juiced up, ready to go. It's football. That's all it was. It was nothing. I got him a box of [Titleist] Pro V1s for pushing him. I felt bad, but it's all in love."

Thursday's practice saw another fight break out involving Stefon Diggs, where he ended up trying to toss a punch at a defender following a play that was blown dead but continued to carry on. While fights are nothing that anyone wants to see involving teammates, Allen says it's all in the spirit of training camp.

"That's all because we want to win," he said, plain and simple. "We want to work really hard, we want to beat the guys across from us, and it doesn't matter who it is. But it's good to see the intensity right now coming out from both sides of the football and the whole team. We just want to win football games."
