Skyler Bell trying not to overthink things, just be himself

Orchard Park, NY (WGR550) - Before Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Skyler Bell’s first-ever NFL practice, he accidentally wore his cleats up to head coach Joe Brady's office.

Once he got on the field, Bell had a couple early drops of passes.

After all that, he credits Brady for helping him settle in by taking Brady’s advice to not overthink things and just be himself.

“He was making fun of me,” Bell said about wearing his cleats to Brady’s office.

Bell said his new head coach is “cool," and that "he's about ball. He's a football junkie.”

When the fourth round pick out of UConn had those drops early-on in his first-ever practice, that cool coach gave him words he took to heart the rest of the day.

“He was just telling me just to be myself and stop overthinking,” Bell said. “That's all it is with me. I was just in my head a little bit, you know, with jitters and things like that. So he was just telling me, ‘man, just be yourself, man. We want you here. You're here for a reason. So just keep doing you.’ “

Bell joined the rest of his rookie teammates and others trying out for the club for the first of a two-day rookie minicamp.
