Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills chances at the AFC East dwindled away after a 13-12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a rough day for the Bills offense, as they were held scoreless right up to the last two drives of the game.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott and quarterback Josh Allen addressed the media following the loss and a big talking point was the two point conversion which decided the game. Unfortunately, Allen couldn't connect with Shakir which led to the loss. Allen explained what happened.
"I just missed rolling left. Gotta give him better ball...It was there, and I gotta make it."
This is also the first year in five years that the Bills will not win the AFC East. Allen commented on what that means to him.
"That sucks, not giving ourselves a chance. We're still in the playoffs, and that's the main thing."
McDermott was asked about the two point attempt as well and broke down his decision making.
"You know, we feel like there's only certain amount of time left at that point, and felt like we had a great, great opportunity to go win it. I'm gonna be aggressive, so I'm not gonna sit back."
Allen has taken a much larger amount of hits this season than in the past. McDermott commented on his level of concern with the hits he has been taking. Especially that they're going to see similar types of defenses in the post season.
"I'm always concerned. I said this to you after the Houston game. You know, similar type of defense, right? In terms of how they're built. So you're going to see it again in the playoffs. It's usually teams that are that are built up front that are in the playoffs, and they have long success in the playoffs. So that's a part of us, making sure we're sharing that piece of what we do. And so it's and it's never one position group, it's never one player. It's a deal where we got to continue to grow as an offense. I'm confident in Joe [Brady] and the offensive staff."
McDermott also was asked what not being able to win the division this season meant to him.
"It is important that we win the division. It's something we've taken a lot of pride in, that's obviously not in our control anymore. So we've got to focus on, as I said before, here's where we're at. What are we going to do to sure things up? What are we going to do to learn from this game?"
