Bills claim Darius Slay off waivers from Steelers

Buffalo releases cornerback Ja'Marcus Ingram to make space for Slay on the 53-man roster

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills have added a veteran to their cornerbacks room, claiming Darius Slay off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Slay was recently released by the Steelers after signing a one-year deal in free agency. Both parties agreed to part ways following a season that has seen him produce 36 tackles in 10 games played.

The Steelers replaced Slay by signing cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. to their 53-man roster from the practice squad. Slay was a healthy scratch this past week in Pittsburgh's 26-7 loss to the Bills.

The 34-year-old was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions as a second-round pick (36th overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft. He has only spent time with two other franchises: The Philadelphia Eagles and Steelers.

In 187 games over 13 seasons, Slay has 655 total tackles, 165 passes defended and 28 interceptions. He has not had an interception, however, since 2023.

To make room for Slay on the 53-man roster, the Bills have released cornerback Ja'Marcus Ingram.

The Bills now have a full 53-man roster, which includes six cornerbacks: Slay, Christian Benford, Maxwell Hairston, Taron Johnson, Tre'Davious White and Cam Lewis.
