Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Just a day after losing wide receiver Gabe Davis to a torn ACL, the Buffalo Bills learned wide receiver Tyrell Shavers also tore his ACL in the team's 27-24 win over the Jaguars in Sunday's AFC Wild Card Round game in Jacksonville.
Shavers was injured in the second quarter of the game, exiting before halftime. Remarkably, he came back in and played the entire second half. But head coach Sean McDermott said further testing revealed Shavers has a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of the playoffs.
The Bills face the Denver Broncos Saturday in the AFC Divisional Round. The loss of Shavers leaves them with only three healthy wideouts on the active roster - Khalil Shakir, Brandin Cooks, and Keon Coleman. They have opened the 21-day practice window for Curtis Samuel, which means he could be activated by the end of the week, and re-signed Kristian Wilkerson to the practice squad, joining Stephen Gosnell and Mecole Hardman.
The team placed wideout Joshua Palmer on Injured Reserve last week, which means is ineligible to play for the remainder of the season.
