Bills' opponents set for 2026 season

The 2026 NFL season schedule is expected to be released sometime in May

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - With the 2025 regular season officially in the books, the slate of 2026 opponents for the Buffalo Bills have officially been finalized.

In the first season playing at the new Highmark Stadium along Abbott Road in Orchard Park, the Bills are slated to play eight home games in 2026, including matchups with:

- Miami Dolphins
- New York Jets
- New England Patriots
- Baltimore Ravens
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Chicago Bears
- Detroit Lions

After losing out on another AFC East title to the Patriots in 2025, the Bills will look to exact revenge for an earlier loss this season to New England at Highmark Stadium, a Week 5 defeat on "Sunday Night Football".

Meanwhile, the Bills will feature a pair of opponents they earned victories over in 2025 in Orchard Park. The Ravens return to Orchard Park next season after collapsing in a memorable Week 1 loss to the Bills in prime-time. Also, the Chiefs will make a second-straight trip to Western New York after falling to the Bills in Week 9.

It has been six years since the Chargers' last visit to Orchard Park, where the Bills managed to come away with a 27-17 victory during the 2020 COVID season that featured no fans at, then, Bills Stadium.

As for the Bears and Lions, both teams have not been to Western New York to play the Bills since Josh Allen's rookie season back in 2018.

For Chicago, the Bears managed to beat up on Nathan Peterman in a 41-9 win over Buffalo at Highmark Stadium.

The Bills have not beaten the visiting Bears in Orchard Park since the 2002 season when they beat Chicago, 33-27 in overtime. Since then, the Bills are 0-2 in games against the Bears at home.

As for Detroit, the Lions could not manage to beat the Bills in a late-season matchup that year in a low-scoring, 14-13, affair.

The Lions have not beaten the Bills in their last five tries, last beating Buffalo back in the 2006 season in a matchup in Detroit. The last Lions win to come in Orchard Park dates back to the 1991 season in a 17-14 overtime victory at the, then, Rich Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Bills will head out on the road nine times in 2026 that will feature a few high-profile road trips out West. This includes matchups with:

- Miami Dolphins
- New York Jets
- New England Patriots
- Houston Texans
- Denver Broncos
- Los Angeles Raiders
- Green Bay Packers
- Minnesota Vikings
- Los Angeles Rams

The Bills have had their struggles over the years in Houston, losing six-straight trips to NRG Stadium since the 2006 season. Buffalo lost its most recent matchup with the Texans, a 23-19 defeat on "Thursday Night Football" in Houston.

The last time the Bills made the trek out West to face the Broncos and Raiders came back in the 2020 COVID season, where Buffalo was victorious in both matchups. The first win came in Las Vegas over the Raiders in Week 4 at the new Allegiant Stadium, while the second victory came in Week 15 in Denver.

The win over the Broncos that year helped the Bills capture their first AFC East title since the 1995 season.

It has been eight years since the Bills last traveled to either Green Bay or Minnesota.

During Allen's rookie season in 2018, the Bills first visited the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium in a Week 3 matchup that saw Buffalo overcome being a 17-point road underdog to earn a win, 27-6. That game was, arguably, Allen's coming out party in the NFL, where he completed 15-of-22 pass attempts for 196 yards and a touchdown, while also accounting for 39 yards on the ground and two more scores.

The very next week, though, the Bills traveled to Green Bay, where they were shut out by the Packers, 22-0. It is the only time in Allen's career, to date, where he and the Buffalo offense has been shut out in a contest.

As for Buffalo's last trip to Los Angeles to face the Rams, it was quite a memorable one, even though the Bills lost, 44-42, in 2024. That game saw Allen start to cement himself as NFL MVP, going 22-of-37 in the air for 342 yards and three touchdowns, while also accounting for 82 yards and three more scores on the ground.

That game saw Allen become the first quarterback in NFL history to account for six total touchdowns with three being through the air and the other three with his feet.

The 2026 regular season schedule will formally be announced sometime in May after the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.
