The Buffalo Bills announced on Wednesday that the team has released wide receiver John Brown and defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson.

Both players had one year remaining on their contracts. The move will save over $14.1 million on the team’s 2021 salary cap. Brown will count $1.6 million in dead money, with a savings of over $7.9 million. Jefferson’s release will save the club $6.5 million against the cap, but carry no dead money.

A league source has also confirmed to WGR that defensive tackle Vernon Butler has agreed to a pay cut in order to clear more space. Butler was scheduled to have a base salary of $5.5 million with a cap hit of over $6.8 million.
