Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Ahead of the start of the new league year on Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills are moving on from wide receiver Curtis Samuel.
As first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bills have released Samuel, saving the team $6 million on the salary cap.
After being signed as a free agent in the 2024 offseason, Samuel was unable to consistently remain in the lineup, appearing in just 20 games. In his short tenure with the Bills, Samuel caught just 38 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns.
In four playoff games with the Bills, Samuel did add seven receptions for 83 yards and another pair of receiving scores.
Samuel was a former second-round pick (40th overall) of the Carolina Panthers in the 2017 NFL Draft, where his best season came in 2020 when he caught 77 passes for 851 yards and three touchdowns. That came with now Bills head coach Joe Brady serving as the offensive coordinator in Carolina.
Over his nine years in the NFL with the Panthers, Washington Commanders and Bills, the 29-year-old has caught 355 passes for just 3,717 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Samuel will leave behind $3.45 million of dead money on the salary cap with his release.
