Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR) - The Buffalo Bills kept their winning ways rolling Sunday with a 36-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens at Highmark Stadium. It was the Bills' 12th-straight win coming out of the bye week, dating back to the 2015 season.
Sunday's win for the Bills certainly didn't come without a wild, time-consuming, turnover-crazy, flag-filled contest. In a game that saw Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson play just one snap before being sidelined with a right thumb injury, and then backup quarterback Tyler Huntley also being sidelined with a toe injury, the game remained in reach for Baltimore until the later stages of the contest.
The good news for the Bills was the defense stepped up with some serious, forcing an interception and two forced fumbles for the Ravens throughout the afternoon.
Coming out of the bye week, Bills head coach Joe Brady felt his defensive unit had an outstanding game plan.
"I thought the way we started the game was outstanding. That's a standard by how they played, and it shouldn't matter who's on the other sideline, who's playing quarterback, any of that. I thought they finished, and I'm really proud of how they how they played," said Brady following the win with the media.
Brady is well aware that his offense struggled in the first half of the contest.
"We were turning the ball over, taking penalties, getting nice plays, and penalties started showing up. Getting the ball in the red zone, a penalty showing up. It was like Groundhog Day," the head coach said.
Turnovers, dropped passes, and penalties plagued the Bills offense in the first half, as quarterback Josh Allen completed an uncharacteristic 8-of-19 pass attempts for 112 yards and an interception.
One piece for the Buffalo offense that was a welcomed return was wide receiver D.J. Moore. He finished his afternoon with four catches for 82 yards and a touchdown.
"You can see what he does to our offense. He made some big plays for us, and you know it's going. It's obviously was great to get him back," Brady said.
While now sitting at 6-1 and in first place in the AFC standings, Brady continues to preach the importance of cleaning up old mistakes and playing a convincing 60-minute style of football going forward.
"I think our standard wasn't good. I thought our execution, our details, penalties, and fumbles; I thought we started off fast in that first drive, but then I felt like we kind of lost our way, in terms of some of the little things," Brady acknowledged. "But there's time on the clock. Let's just keep playing, and we'll figure it out. And the guys have a lot of trust in us, and I have a lot of trust in them."
