A fight broke out in the stands at last Saturday's preseason matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions at Heinz Field. Police are investigating the incident, and it appears that no one was seriously hurt.
While the Internet is acting like this is a rare occurrence, we know it is not, and former Steelers executive and Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley has some not-safe-for-work (NSFW) stories to prove it.
While chatting with "The Fan Morning Show" during his weekly segment on 93.7 The Fan, Whaley says he saw many fights over the years.
When he got to Buffalo in 2010, Whaley said he was really close to fans during games. One time he saw a man surfing on the hand railings on the second level of Highmark Stadium.
“A guy tried to basically slide off the second level. He was surfing on the second level on railings and fell off all the way to the first level and just got crushed,” said Whaley.
He adds the guy wasn’t paralyzed and ended up being okay.
Another one, that we’ll try to keep as PG as possible, also happened in Buffalo.
Whaley says a couple was at a preseason game in August, yet they had a blanket. You can probably guess where this is going.
“Next thing you know, the guy’s hands were above the blanket, the woman’s weren’t, next thing you know she comes out and she’s grabbing napkins,” said a shocked Whaley.
While some of these antics are shocking, to say the least, Whaley says the wildest behavior he saw was in the "Black Hole" in Oakland when the Raiders played there.
In the parking lot of the Oakland Coliseum, Whaley says she saw a woman come out of a porta-potty and she obviously forgot to pull her pants down before she went.
Another thing that Whaley noticed was all the “snow” on cars in Oakland.
“The snow, for some reason, is in a perfect line. I just don’t understand,” said Whaley, obviously referencing cocaine.
So while there may be fights breaking out in Pittsburgh, it sounds like there's wilder antics going on in other cities.
