Greg Rousseau already has a NFL All-Pro in his corner.

At the Miami Hurricanes’ Paradise Camp, an annual event launched in 2016 that features ex-Hurricanes stars working with one another, Calais Campbell was spotted giving the Buffalo Bills’ first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft some pass-rushing tips.

Campbell is quite the player to learn from. The veteran defensive end has been selected to six Pro Bowls and was named a first-team All-Pro in 2017. He’s also still a productive player entering his 14th season, recording 10.5 sacks over the last two years.

Over his career, Campbell has piled up 92 career sacks and 156 tackles for loss. Considering the average NFL career only lasts about 2.5 years, that is some impressive longevity.

Campbell has been in Rousseau’s corner before. Prior to the NFL Draft, Campbell tweeted out a passionate defense of his fellow Hurricane, pushing back against questions about Rousseau’s size and athletics.

“I wonder what the scouts were saying when I was coming out,” Campbell tweeted. “Not athletic enough? Not strong enough? I am not a scout and I know they have a tough job. But I hope they don’t overthink this one. [Greg Rousseau] can play football. He is a playmaker! Shows up in both the run and pass game.”

Rousseau stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 267 pounds, so it’s hard to understand where those concerns came from, but nonetheless.

The 30th overall pick in 2021 was a monster the last time he was on the field, totaling 15.5 sacks in 2019 — and 19.5 tackles for a loss. He didn’t play last season after opting out due to COVID-19 concerns.

Earlier this offseason, Bills legend and NFL Hall of Famer Bruce Smith also pledged to work with Rousseau.

“I am extremely excited, man, that they chose you in this year’s first round draft,” Smith said. “You’ve got a skill set, your physical attributes can take you a long way. But it’s that knowledge that folks like myself can help instill in you that will take you to the next level. We got big things planned for the future. Looking forward to getting together with you man. Enjoy the experience.”

Of course, we will have to wait and see what kind of impact Rousseau makes on the playing field. But so far, he couldn’t have better mentors.
