It wasn't a pretty win, by any means, but the Buffalo Bills snapped a two-game losing streak last Sunday with an 18-10 win over the New York Jets in a Tyler Bass "field goal fest" at MetLife Stadium.
While the Bills moved the ball well on Sunday, they failed to get into the end zone and won the game with a strong second half defensive performance, as well as six field goals from Bass. However, quarterback Josh Allen did have another efficient day for the Bills, going 30-of-43 for 307 yards.
This week may be the official sign of the change of the guard in the AFC East as the Bills welcome the New England Patriots to Bills Stadium for their annual visit. With a Bills win, they team would improve to 6-2 on the 2020 season, while dropping New England to 2-5 and, essentially, putting their season on ice.
Paired with a potential Miami Dolphins loss to the Los Angeles Rams this week in South Florida, the Bills would then build their lead in the AFC East to 2.5 games over the Dolphins and 3.5 over the Patriots. That would be quite significant with upcoming matchups with the Seattle Seahawks (5-1) in Week 9 at home and the Arizona Cardinals (5-2) in Week 10 on the road.
In the Week 7 edition of "Howard Picks the Bills", Howard Simon was a bit down following losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans the two weeks before. He had the Bills going 10-6 on the season, but had the Bills easily beating the Jets.
This week, Howard believes that if you don't beat the Patriots now, when are you ever going to? He has the Bills beating the Patriots this Sunday, but still has Buffalo going 10-6 overall and likely winning the AFC East!
