Here are some important dates to know between now and the start of the regular season for Buffalo Bills and other NFL fans:
Wednesday, July 28 — Buffalo Bills first training camp practice, 10 a.m. ET
Thursday, Aug. 5 — Hall of Fame Game: Cowboys vs. Steelers, 8 p.m. ET; Canton, Ohio.
Friday, Aug. 13 — Preseason: Bills at Detroit Lions, 7 p.m. ET
Tuesday, Aug. 17 — Teams must reduce rosters to a maximum of 85 players on the Active/Inactive List by 4 p.m. ET
Saturday, Aug. 21 — Preseason: Bills at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m. ET
Tuesday, Aug. 24 — Teams must reduce rosters to a maximum of 80 players on the Active/Inactive List by 4 p.m. ET
Saturday, Aug. 28 — Preseason: Green Bay Packers at Bills, 1 p.m. ET
Tuesday, Aug. 31 — Teams must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the Active/Inactive List by 4 p.m. ET. Also by that time, teams that have players in the categories of Active/Physically Unable to Perform or Active/Non-Football Injury or Illness must select one of the following options for each of those players:
1.) Place on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform or Reserve/Non- Football Injury or Illness
2.) Terminate or request waivers with the designation of Failed Physical or Non-Football Injury or Illness
3.) Request waivers
4.) Terminate contract
5.) Trade contract
6.) Continue to count the player on the Active List.
Wednesday, Sept. 1 — Claiming period for players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at 4 p.m. ET. At that time, teams may begin establishing a Practice Squad.
Thursday, Sept. 9 — NFL regular season opener: Cowboys at Buccaneers, 9 p.m. ET
Sunday, Sept. 12 — Regular season Game 1: Steelers at Bills, 1 p.m. ET.
