Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the third-straight week to start the 2024 NFL season, a member of the Buffalo Bills has been named an AFC Player of the Week. First it was defensive end Greg Rousseau in Week 1, then running back James Cook in Week 2, and now, it's an all-too familiar name.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday following his performance on "Monday Night Football" against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.
In Buffalo's 47-10 dominance of Jacksonville, Allen completed 23-of-30 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns, with most of those totals coming in the first half alone. His four touchdowns and 142.1 passer rating was the most among all AFC quarterbacks this week.
Allen became the first quarterback in the NFL with 200-plus passing yards and four-plus passing touchdowns in the first half since 2022, when he did it himself in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 28-year-old also became the first quarterback in NFL history to complete 75% of his passes thrown for four-plus touchdowns without taking a sack, turning the ball over, and leading his team in rushing yards.
This is also the first time in Allen's career he has gone three-straight games without throwing an interception.
This is now the 13th time Allen has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, extending his franchise record. In addition, Allen has earned the honor more times than any other player in the NFL since entering the league in 2018.
The last AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Allen came last season in a Week 4 win over the Miami Dolphins in Orchard Park.
