Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR) - Four of the six players who had been out with injuries returned to the practice field for the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, just days before the 2026 season opener against the Texans in Houston.
Most notably, starting slot receiver Khalil Shakir was back for the Bills.
However, running back Ty Johnson was listed as a non-participant with a hamstring injury on the first injury report of the week and season. Johnson has been out for over a month since going down at the team's "Return of the Blue and Red" practice on Aug. 8.
If Johnson is unable to play in the Bills' regular season opener, running back Frank Gore Jr. could be elevated from the practice squad to join James Cook and Ray Davis in the backfield.
In addition, defensive back Jordan Hancock was a non-participant with a quad injury, while defensive tackle T.J. Sanders was limited with a knee injury.
