Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - It was a much-needed win on Sunday for the Buffalo Bills in a matchup with their AFC East rival New York Jets at Highmark Stadium.
With their backs against the wall and having fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey just days before the game, the Bills got back on track offensively against one of the best defenses in the NFL. The offense put up more than 30 points in a game for the first time since Week 4.
Interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady helped get the offense back into form, allowing quarterback Josh Allen to play more like himself with 275 yards passing and three touchdowns.
As for the defense, they made Sunday a living hell for Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, who ended up being benched in the third quarter for backup journeyman Tim Boyle.
The defense was able to come up with big plays, forcing six sacks, four turnovers, and holding the Jets to 0-for-11 on third down.
However, the unit continues to deal with injuries, especially in the secondary this game with cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson leaving due to concussions, while safety Taylor Rapp exited the game in an ambulance with a neck injury.
The remainder of Buffalo's schedule does not get any easier, as they next head out on the road to take on the Philadelphia Eagles, who currently hold the best record in the NFL at 9-1.
The Eagles are coming off a highly anticipated rematch of Super Bowl LVII on Monday night against the Chiefs in Kansas City. They ended up getting a late game-winning drive to exact revenge for their Super Bowl loss, beating the Chiefs, 21-17, at Arrowhead Stadium.
This coming Sunday's matchup will be the first time the Bills have faced the Eagles since 2019 in Orchard Park. The last time both teams squared off in the "City of Brotherly Love" was back in 2015.
The dominating win on both sides of the ball tremendously lifted Howard Simon's sprits, as the Bills look to turn the tide on the season and inch closer to a playoff spot in the weeks ahead.
After a week in which Howard had picked the Bills to finish sub .500 at an abysmal 7-10, the tide turned for him ahead of his Week 12 picks. The dominating win over the Jets sees Howard picking Buffalo to win a few more games and flipping the script with a 10-7 finish. This includes wins over the Chiefs at Arrowhead, the Dallas Cowboys at home, and then the Los Angeles Chargers on Dec. 23.
