Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Monday night was another impressive performance from the Buffalo Bills, as they begin their 2024 season with a 3-0 record after a dominant 47-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
The Bills, once again, came together to put up a great team performance to earn the victory under the lights of prime-time, but it was the offense that really shined to start this contest.
In five total drives in the first half, quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo offense were able to pick apart the Jacksonville defense, putting up five touchdown drives to get out to a 34-3 halftime lead. Allen accounted for four of those touchdowns through the air, while also completing 23-of-30 pass attempts for 263 total yards and a 142.1 passer rating.
Allen was also able to spread the ball around on Monday, with 10 different players catching a pass. It was Khalil Shakir leading the way, though, with six catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
In addition, it was the second-straight game where the Buffalo offense did not give up a sack or turn the ball over.
As for the Buffalo defense, the unit forced two turnovers of the Jaguars, including a first-career interception for Bills safety Damar Hamlin. The Bills were also able to hold Jacksonville to only 10 points.
Up next for the Bills will be another short week before, yet, another prime-time game, this time against the Baltimore Ravens and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson on "Sunday Night Football".
Looking at the Ravens, they were finally able to secure their first win of the season this past week in Dallas against the Cowboys. Baltimore turned to its run game to get out to a 28-6 lead early in the second half, as running back Derrick Henry scampered for 151 yards and a pair of scores on 25 carries.
Jackson, on the other hand, was efficient both through the air and with his legs, going 12-of-15 for 182 yards and a touchdown in the air, while gaining 87 yards on 14 carries and another score.
Despite leading by the same score into the later stages of the fourth quarter, the Cowboys were able to make things very interesting near the end, cutting the deficit to 28-25 with just north of two minutes left to play. However, the Ravens secured the win with a first down run from Jackson, allowing Baltimore to kneel the clock out.
Heading into Sunday night's matchup at M&T Bank Stadium, the Bills defense will, once again, be without cornerback Taron Johnson and linebacker Terrel Bernard due to injury. Despite that, the Bills remain relatively healthy, as they look to secure a 4-0 start to the season for the first time since 2020.
Another strong showing by the Bills in prime-time is certainly leaving one Howard Simon even more confident in this team heading into Week 4!
In his latest edition of "Howard Picks the Bills", Howard has the Bills getting a win on Sunday night over the Ravens, before their first loss of the season on the road against the Houston Texans in Week 5.
After that, though, Howard has the Bills winning six-straight games, including a victory over their heated rival, the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11.
From there, Howard has Buffalo losing a pair of other games in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers and Week 15 against the Detroit Lions, but those are his only blemishes on the way to a 14-3 finish!
If Howard's pick of 14 wins were to be correct come the end of the season, it would set a Bills franchise record for the most wins in a single season.
