Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - While still clinging to life in the AFC East picture with two games remaining in the regular season, the Buffalo Bills will be looking to make it five-straight wins when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Highmark Stadium.
Some are touting this matchup as a Super Bowl LX preview, with the Bills remaining a top contender in the AFC, while Philadelphis looks to defend their Super Bowl title won last season.
While the strength of the Eagles most of the season has been their defense, the offense has struggled, at times, this season under first-year offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
Despite that, the Eagles still have some of the more potent weapons on the field at any given moment. Whether it's quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, tight end Dallas Goedert or wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Bills head coach Sean McDermott knows his team has to be prepared.
"You mention [Barkley], obviously who is one of a kind and what he's be able to accomplish over the years, and then the two wide receivers as well. It's a tough outfit to bottle up, and we will have our hands full with the challenge, but we look forward to it," said McDermott on Friday during his weekly appearance on the "Extra Point Show" on WGR.
Meanwhile, one of the key pieces for Buffalo's success last week in Cleveland against the Brown was James Cook in the running game, as he racked up another 100-yard rushing game and also accounted for two rushing touchdowns.
"His mindset, attitude, the look in his eyes week-in and week-out, in particular the back half of the season. I would say the last four games he's been able to motivate, influence and inspire our team with not only his play, but also his approach on the sidelines and day-to-day in the building," McDermott said with Sal Capaccio.
The NFL's leading rusher has helped support Josh Allen with his 1,532 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns on the season.
On the injury report, just three players were ruled out for the Bills ahead of Sunday's contest: Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, kicker Matt Prater and safety Jordan Poyer.
Poyer left the Browns game late with a hamstring injury, and McDermott says the team is still figuring out his replacement on Sunday.
As for Allen, the Bills quarterback suffered a foot injury against the Browns, and has been limited for much of the week at practice. However, McDermott seems confident in his belief that the reigning NFL MVP is good to go for the Eagles on Sunday.
"[Josh] is getting better each day, and is trending in the right direction and will be ready to play," McDermott said.
