Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Buffalo Bills linebacker and special-teamer Andre Smith has been suspended for the first six games of the 2022 regular season for violation of the league's PED policy, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Smith was acquired prior to the 2020 season in a trade with the Carolina Panthers, was waived at the end of training camp, but re-signed to the club's practice squad. He then spent time on the Bills' practice squad and active roster that year.
The 25-year-old signed a two-year contract extension prior to last season.
After being inactive the first two weeks of 2021, he played the remaining 16 games, but never saw a single snap on defense. He was eighth on the team in total special teams snaps played at just shy of 60%.
Smith is scheduled to make just under $1.2 million in 2022.
