Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have found their replacement for Mitchell Trubisky to back up Josh Allen for the 2022 season.

The Bills have traded a seventh round draft choice in the 2022 draft to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for quarterback Case Keenum, the team announced on Sunday.
A league sources confirmed to WGR that the pick will be Buffalo's own selection, No. 246 overall, which is 25th overall in the seventh round. The Bills still hold the Atlanta Falcons' seventh round pick in this year's draft, No. 231 overall, which they acquired in exchange for tight end Lee Smith last offseason.
The 34-year-old journeyman quarterback spent the past two seasons in Cleveland serving as the backup signal caller to Baker Mayfield. Keenum did get a chance to see some action in that time in Cleveland, playing in nine games, starting two of those contests and winning both of them.
This will be Keenum's seventh team he's played for since being undrafted in 2012 out of the University of Houston. He started his career with the Houston Texans before moving on to the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington, and eventually Cleveland.
Keenum's best season came in 2017 when he helped lead the Vikings to a NFC Championship Game appearance. In 15 games played during the regular season, he threw for 3,547 yards and 22 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. In the playoffs, Keenum will be remembered for his touchdown pass to current Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs as time expired to beat the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional Round.
The Browns are going through some big changes under center, as they have acquired Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans. Just before the trade was made, Mayfield had formally put in his request for a trade, but the team said they would not fulfill his request.
As for the Bills, they needed a new backup quarterback after Trubisky left the Bills in free agency to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
