Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have reportedly created a good amount of salary cap space on Monday by restructuring the contract of quarterback Josh Allen.

According to ESPN NFL insider Field Yates, the Bills are converting most of Allen's base salary into a signing bonus, thus creating $16.7 million in cap space.

As a result, Allen's new cap charge for the 2024 season will be $30.3 million.

Just before the start of the 2021 season, the Bills signed Allen to a massive six-year contract extension that kicked in at the start of the 2023 season.

Buffalo has already restructured Allen's contract once before when they converted $26.4 million of salary into a signing bonus, creating roughly $21 million in cap space just before the start of the 2023 league year.

The 27-year-old threw for 4,306 yards last season to go along with 29 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. Allen did finish the 2023 campaign with the most total yards of offense in the league with 4,678 yards. He also led the entire NFL this year with 44 total touchdowns.
