Since the 2020 regular season ended, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has been considered a top candidate for teams around the National Football League looking for a new head coach.

As recently as Saturday morning, just hours before the Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens in their AFC Divisional Round playoff game, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Daboll had "emerged as a favorite to land the Los Angeles Chargers' head coaching job." About 36 hours later, the Chargers instead hired Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley as their new head man.

With only two head coaching jobs still open, the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans, and both teams reportedly showing earlier interest in Daboll, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported that the Bills offensive coordinator will not be pursuing either opportunity and will remain with the club in 2021.

Daboll did not confirm nor deny that report when speaking with the Buffalo media on Monday.

“I’ll kind of say the same thing I’ve said the last few weeks," Daboll said on his weekly Zoom conference call. "I’m privileged and honored to be here and working for this organization. Everything that I have and we have is focused on what we need to do this week, which is a big game against Kansas City."

While Daboll didn't address the report specifically, he did acknowledge that he would like to be a head coach some day.

"The ultimate goal is to become a head coach one day," Daboll said. "But that’s not on the agenda right now for me. It’s doing everything I can do to help our team be the best they can be this week, and that’s what it’s always been. That’s what have always be.”

Daboll and the Bills are preparing to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.
