Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie will have an MRI on his left shoulder after suffering an injury at practice on Tuesday, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
After catching a pass, McKenzie took a hit from safety Jordan Poyer, who appeared to be trying to stop as to not hit the wideout. However, McKenzie ran into him pretty hard and stayed down on the field for several minutes while being tended to by trainers. He walked off on his own power, but very much favoring his left shoulder area as he headed into the team's facilities.
Losing McKenzie for any notable length of time would be a big blow for the Bills. He's the team's top kick and punt returner, and also plays an important role on offense as a reserve wideout, finishing with 30 catches for 282 yards and five touchdowns last season.
The team is already without one of their other return options, and also thin at wide receiver.
Rookie Marquez Stevenson suffered a foot injury in Saturday's preseason win over the Chicago Bears and hasn't practiced since. Stevenson had a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown in that game.
The Bills also placed wide receivers Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis on the Reserve/COVID-19 list and released Lance Lenoir on Tuesday.
Williams on I.R.
Wide receiver Duke Williams cleared waivers on Tuesday after being waived-injured on Monday. He reverted back to the Bills roster, where he was then placed on season-ending Injured Reserve.
