A new Washington Post profile delves further into Dan Snyder’s abuse of power as owner of the Washington Football Team, alleging Snyder hired private investigators to “silence” former employees, in essence hijacking the NFL’s investigation into sexual harassment complaints and other instances of workplace misconduct. Will Hobson, one of the writers who contributed to that report, presented more disturbing details Wednesday while appearing as a guest on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, recounting a troubling ordeal experienced by a female sales executive.

“I remember one woman telling me that her boss had implored her to get breast implants and said to her, ‘If you were ever interested in getting breast implants, I know a doctor who gives us a deal on the cheerleaders and can make that happen for you.” This wildly inappropriate behavior was seen as commonplace within the organization, sewing the seeds of a toxic work environment, particularly for women.

“These were damaging experiences. For a lot of them, it was their first job out of college, so this was an introduction to them,” said Hobson, describing the lasting impact this harassment had on female employees. “‘Is this how the world works? Is this how I’m going to be treated everywhere else I work?’ For some of them, it had a severe impact on their career arcs.”

Hobson also shared an anecdote about a male executive Snyder routinely humiliated after learning he had been a college cheerleader. “There was a top executive of Dan’s that had been a college cheerleader and it was just an ongoing joke. Dan would make him do cartwheels on occasion in board meetings to get his rocks off.”

The casual misogyny and bullying culture fostered by Snyder should be grounds for expulsion, though Hobson doesn’t see Washington’s longtime owner surrendering his throne anytime soon. “He has a very Trumpian reputation. There is a belief that if they actually tried to force him out, he would sue every last one of them and it would just be an absolute nightmare. So the juice is not worth the squeeze, as the saying goes,” said Hobson, insinuating Snyder would fight to the death if the NFL ever came for his team. “Dan has a litigious reputation and there’s a very high bar out there for forcing an NFL owner to sell his team.”
