DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks were able to even their round one playoff series with the Los Angeles Clippers at two games a piece on Sunday night, coming back from 21 points down to win on a thrilling overtime buzzer-beater from Luka Doncic.
What was even more impressive, however, is that they were able to do it without their second star, Kristaps Porzingis, in the lineup, after he was a late scratch from the game with right knee soreness.
Heading into a pivotal game five on Tuesday night, the Mavs would obviously have loved to have had the 25-year-old back in the lineup, however, according to Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle, it seems Porzingis will likely be a game-time decision at best.
"Still uncertain," Carlisle told the media on Monday afternoon. "He's been undergoing treatment and has seen the doctors here. We'll know a little more tomorrow, but this may be a game-time decision similar to Luka's yesterday."
Porzingis is no stranger to knee troubles, having missed most of the last two seasons with a torn ACL in his left knee, as well as 10 games earlier this season with right knee soreness.
However, per Carlisle, Porzingis's latest MRI came back without any concern, which would indicate good news for the Mavericks heading into tomorrow night.
"There's nothing on the MRI that has ruled him out a day before the game and that's good news," Carlisle said. "I think we can take some stock in that and we'll see where we are tomorrow. A lot of this is going to be hour to hour, minute to minute type stuff."
The Mavericks and Clippers will tip off at 8 p.m. CT on TNT from AdventHealth Arena.
