PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - Growing up in Plaquemine, Louisiana, you wouldn't think the Steelers would be a kids favorite team. But that's the case for the teams 4th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Guard Kevin Dotson.
Dotson joined The PM Team with Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller to talk about getting drafted and getting the opportunity to play for his favorite team. But how did it come about that he rooted for the Steelers living so far away?
"We were about to wrap up the meeting, I got to introduce my Dad to Mike Tomlin," Dotson said. "It was probably the first time I had ever seen my Dad nervous. It kind of was like 'This is real? This is really happening?' It was an amazing feeling to be able to do that for my Dad."
Being drafted in the 4th round and playing along the offensive line sometimes means learning new positions. Dotson played right guard in college, but says he's open to moving to the left side if that's what the Steelers want him to do.
"I see myself as a right guard, but left guard is no problem for me. I played right guard most of my career."
