Green Bay, Wis. (92.3 The Fan/WGR Sports Radio 550) - Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry shook up the early trajectory of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday with a massive trade of the No. 2 pick.
The Browns traded the second overall pick, along with a fourth- and sixth-round pick in 2025, to Jacksonville in exchange for the fifth overall pick, a second- and fourth-round pick in 2025, and the Jaguars' first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
With the second pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Jaguars selected wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter from the University of Colorado.
Hunter has been one of the more dynamic prospects in football over the last two seasons since transferring to Colorado from Jackson State. In his two years in Boulder, Hunter reeled in 153 passes for 1,979 yards and 20 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Hunter registered 66 total tackles, three tackles for loss, 16 passes defended and seven interceptions.
His 2024 season with the Buffalos was one to remember, as Hunter ranked No. 1 in the nation for receptions (96) and touchdowns receptions (15), while racking up 1,258 yards receiving yards. Defensively, Hunter was just as effective with 36 total tackles, 11 passes defended and four interceptions.
Those stellar numbers on both sides of the ball was enough to help earn Hunter the Heisman Trophy as the best collegiate football player for the 2024 campaign.
After trading out of the No. 2 slot and collecting a 2026 first-round pick, the Browns stayed put at No. 5 and filled a key defensive need by selecting defensive tackle Mason Graham out of the University of Michigan.
Graham played three collegiate seasons of football with the Wolverines, appearing in 39 games and registering 108 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, nine sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
After helping Michigan to a National Championship title in 2023, Graham went on to be named a Consensus All-American in 2024 with 45 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and three sacks.
This trade between the Browns and Jaguars was multifaceted. Cleveland is not a contending right now in football, but acquired a second 2026 first round pick, giving the franchise ammunition to make a big move next April for a potential franchise quarterback that is not believed to be available this year.
