'Woj Bomb': NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski joins St. Bonaventure as men's basketball general manager

"Woj" graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1991, and has worked at ESPN since 2017

Olean, N.Y. (WBEN/WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo sports scene had its own "Woj Bomb" dropped on it Wednesday morning.

St. Bonaventure University has announced Adrian Wojnarowski, ESPN Senior NBA insider, will join the school as general manager for its men's basketball program.

Wojnarowski will help the Bonnies' coaching staff with ever-important name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities. "Woj" will also have a hand in recruiting, including building relationships with players' families, as well as fundraising for the program.

The longtime NBA insider graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1991, and has worked at ESPN since 2017. He is now walking away from ESPN just two years after signing a contract extension.

"I understand the commitment required in my role, and it's an investment that I'm no longer driven to make," Wojnarowski said of his time at ESPN. "Time isn't in endless supply and I want to spend mine in ways that are more personally meaningful."

Bob Beretta, vice president and director of Intercollegiate Athletics at the university says Wojnarowski's connections in the world of basketball are an asset to its program.

"The fact that the preeminent journalist in his field is willing to walk away from a lucrative media career to serve his alma mater in a support role is a testament to his love and passion for Bona's," Beretta said.

Widely viewed as the top insider in the sport of basketball, Wojnarowski has made a name breaking the top stories in the sport to his 6.5 million followers on X, formerly known as Twitter. Now, he'll have the chance to make a name for himself in another aspect of the game.
