East Rutherford, N.J. (Audacy Sports/WGR 550) - The New York Jets offensive line is quite a ways away from being a strength of their team, and the weather Thursday evening at MetLife Stadium is far from optimal.
Even still, it didn't take a football savant to come to the conclusion that Zach Wilson looked overmatched during the Jets' "Thursday Night Football" matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
As Trevor Lawrence has started to look like a star in Jacksonville, Wilson - the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft - has increasingly flirted with the "bust" label.
The 23-year-old only managed to go 9-of-18 in parts of three quarters of action for 92 yards and an interception. Wilson ended up being replaced under center by practice squad quarterback Chris Streveler, who was elevated for the game just before kickoff.
While Streveler was not much more efficient at the helm for the Jets in the final moments of their 19-3 loss, the 27-year-old was able to complete 10-of-15 passing attempts for 90 yards, and even bring MetLife Stadium to life in brief spurts.
Social media was sure to let Wilson have it, as he struggled on the national stage to open up the Week 16 slate:
Think about how bad a young QB has to be for fans to boo the no. 2 pick in his second season because they would rather watch 37-year-old Joe Flacco.
