LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Bears cornerback Artie Burns suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during practice Tuesday, ESPN reported.
Burns left practice at Halas Hall on a cart after suffering the injury. The Bears didn't immediately have details on Burns' status, with coach Matt Nagy only confirming it was a left knee injury.
Burns, 25, was signed by the Bears on a one-year deal in March. A first-round pick of the Steelers in 2016, Burns was set to compete for a starting spot at cornerback opposite of Kyle Fuller.
The Bears turned to Burns as their starting cornerback during the first full-contact practice on Monday. Without Burns, the Bears' competition at cornerback will include incumbent nickel cornerback Buster Skrine, rookie Jaylon Johnson and Kevin Toliver.
Burns played in 58 games during his four seasons with the Steelers, recording four interceptions.
