PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - According to reports, the Toronto Blue Jays are interested in acquiring right-hand pitchers Trevor Williams and Chad Kuhl from the Pirates.
MLB.com’s Jon Paul Morosi says the Jays, playing home games in Buffalo this year, are looking to plug in some holes in their pitching staff after starting pitchers Matt Shoemaker, Nate Pearson and Trent Thorton all went on the injured list.
The Pirates and Jay’s organizations have a close relationship with Bucs’ General Manager Ben Cherington coming over from Toronto after serving as the team’s vice-president of baseball operations.
The Blue Jays are currently 14-13 and trying to make the playoffs.
The Pirates are 7-17 and are likely looking to build toward next season.
Williams has a record of 1-4 with a 3.70 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 24.1 innings pitched
