(WGR 550) – A former sixth-round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014 NHL Draft has signed a one-year AHL contract with the Rochester Americans.

Christopher Brown has spent parts of the last three seasons in the ECHL with the Sabres' new affiliate, the Jacksonville Icemen. The 27-year-old was the captain of the Icemen last season, scoring 24 goals and 40 assists for 64 points in 72 games. He also added 13 points in 12 playoff games.

After playing four seasons of college hockey with Boston College, Brown has played 44 AHL games with the Hershey Bears and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, scoring one goal and two assists for three points.

Brown’s uncle, Greg Brown, was taken by the Sabres in the second round of the 1986 NHL Draft. The defenseman played 49 games with Buffalo, picking up one goal and three assists for four points.
