Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - It's been a long time coming for many Buffalo Sabres fans, but the black and red "goathead" jerseys are coming back in 2022.

The team took to Twitter late Wednesday morning to break the news by posting a video panning the Buffalo locker room, beginning with the current logo in the center of the ceiling before panning down to a red locker room where the goat head logo replaces the current one.
The Sabres will be wearing the jersey for 12 home games this season, the first of which is set for Wednesday, Nov. 23 against the St. Louis Blues.
The black and red jerseys were originally worn by the Sabres at the start of the 1996-97 season through the 2005-06 season. During that period, Buffalo went 345-279-114 in 738 regular season games, while winning 48 playoff games.
According to the team website, the new uniform will be revealed in early November. The team recommends that fans should stay tuned for details regarding on-sale dates for the jersey.
