Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) – The NHL has added to Sunday’s COVID-19 protocols list with Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin being the newest player to be added.
That puts nine Sabres players in NHL's COVID-19 protocols, including Rasmus Ristolainen, Taylor Hall, Brandon Montour, Tobi Rieder, Jake McCabe, Dylan Cozens, Curtis Lazar and Casey Mittelstadt.
I have confirmed that the Sabres hope to open their facility by Tuesday afternoon for the first time in over a week. To accomplish that and to practice, they would have to do rapid testing Tuesday morning. The team has been in quarantine since the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Buffalo’s next game is Thursday against the Washington Capitals.
Ilya Samsonov and Evgeny Kuznetsov were on the ice for practice on Monday for the Caps. They’ve been in league protocols since Jan. 20.
The only two Sabres on the list that would have any chance of playing Thursday would be Ristolainen and Hall. Montour and Rieder would be eligible to come off the list for Saturday’s game.
