Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres have brought back some depth for the blue line in Rochester next season, re-signing defenseman Joe Cecconi on Friday to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000.
The 26-year-old was acquired by the Sabres this past December in a trade with the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenseman Oskari Laaksonen.
This past season with the Rochester Americans, Cecconi played in 41 regular season games and scored three goals and eight points. The Youngstown native played quite well in the Calder Cup Playoffs for the Amerks, registering five points (2+3) in 14 games played.

Cecconi was a fifth-round selection of the Stars back in the 2015 NHL Draft. He has yet to make an appearance at the NHL level, but has played in 217 career AHL games, registering 41 points (7+34).
