Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Sabres announced its full regular season schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 season of hockey.
Prior to the full schedule release, the Sabres announced they would open the home portion of their schedule on Thursday, Oct. 9 against the New York Rangers, which will also be the team's season opener.
Buffalo’s first game on the road will come on Saturday, Oct. 11 against the Boston Bruins before returning home for five of the next six contests. This includes a 12:35 p.m. battle with the Colorado Avalanche on Monday, Oct. 13.
That day will also feature the Buffalo Bills matching up with the Atlanta Falcons on "Monday Night Football".
Buffalo's first matchup of the season against the two-time reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers comes on Saturday, Oct. 18 as part of that stretch of home games.
The Toronto Maple Leafs make their first of two appearances in Buffalo on Friday, Oct. 24. It will be a home-and-home weekend, as the Sabres will then travel to Toronto the very next night.
This is the only back-to-back games for Buffalo until Nov. 12 when they play the Utah Mammoth and the Avalanche on consecutive nights.
On Monday, Nov. 17, the Sabres will host Connor McDavid and the two-time Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers for a matchup in Downtown Buffalo.
For the first time since the 2013-14 season, players in the NHL will participate in the Winter Olympics, with this year's games taking place in Milan, Italy. The first games for men's ice hockey at the Olympics will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Some Sabres players will get a 19-day break in February for the Olympics, though others like Rasmus Dahlin (Sweden) will take part in the games representing their home nations.
The last game before break is at home on Thursday, Feb. 5 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The first game immediately out of Olympic break is Wednesday, Feb. 25 when Buffalo starts a three-game road trip in four nights against the New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
The final game of the season falls on Wednesday, April 15 when the Dallas Stars make their only appearance of the year in Buffalo.
The Sabres have two five-game home stands this season. The first starts on Saturday, Jan. 10 against the Anaheim Ducks, while the second begins on Saturday, March 7 against the Nashville Predators.
Buffalo’s longest road trip of the year is six games, beginning on Wednesday Dec. 3 when they travel to Philadelphia to face the Flyers, and then make stops against the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Oilers, Vancouver Canucks and Seattle Kraken.
The Sabres liked playing Saturday afternoon games in the past, but only have two such contests this season.
Buffalo also has a total set of 12 of back-to-back series this year.
