Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Sabres have added another depth piece at forward with the signing of Jake Leschyshyn to a one-year contract on Wednesday. According to PuckPedia, Leschyshyn will make the league minimum of $775,000.
Over his six professional seasons of hockey, Leschyshyn has seen a handful of action at the NHL level, scoring two goals and adding four assists for six points in 77 games played with the Vegas Golden Knights and New York Rangers.
Leschyshyn's longest stint in the NHL came during his 2021-22 season when he played 41 games with the Golden Knights, producing all six points he's accounted for as a depth forward in Vegas. Since then, though, he played 22 more games with the Golden Knights and 14 more games with the Rangers with no further production on the scoresheet.
This past season in the American Hockey League with the Hartford Wolf Pack, Leschyshyn put up 13 goals and registered 11 assists for 24 points in 69 games played, though he was a minus-35.
The 26-year-old is a former second-round pick (62nd overall) of the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Draft. He is also the son of former longtime NHL defenseman Curtis Leschyshyn.
