It was originally reported on Saturday by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter and reporter Jeff Darlington that Tom Brady was retiring from the National Football League after 22 seasons, 20 with the New England Patriots and two with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, there were conflicting reports that surfaced shortly after indicating Brady had not made up his mind yet. Then, Brady began his "Let's Go!" podcast on Monday night saying he's taking this decision on a day-by-day basis.

Then on Tuesday morning, Brady made the news official on his social media accounts, announcing his retirement.

Brady and Tampa Bay's season came to an end with a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round.

The 44-year-old retires a seven-time Super Bowl champion, five-time Super Bowl MVP, three-time NFL MVP, 15-time NFL Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro and is the NFL's all-time passing leader.

In his 20 seasons with New England, Brady won six Super Bowls, helping the Patriots to becoming one of the greatest dynasties the NFL has ever seen. With the Buccaneers, Brady won a Super Bowl in his first season at the age of 43.

Over his 22 seasons in the league, Brady reached the Super Bowl 10 times.

In his career against the Buffalo Bills, Brady earned 33 wins in 36 career starts. That gives him the most wins against one team of any quarterback in NFL history. He also completed 64.1% of his passes against the Bills for 9,032 yards and 72 touchdowns to 25 interceptions.

Not only will Brady go down as not only one of the best football players of all-time, but athletes as well.
