Cascade Inc. Closing Two NEPA Plants.229 Workers To Be Displaced

Cascades Inc. has announced  it is closing it's tissue production and conversion plants in Ransom Township and Pittston plants. 

The move means  229 workers will be displaced by in the next few months.The company plans to offer as many employees as possible the option to transfer to other plants. The local plants will close between Dec. 7 and Jan. 31, 2021 , The company says the aging equipment of these facilities, the low profitability, the high logistic costs and its recently announced investments in other production have prompted the moving of  production to  other sites to optimize operational efficiency.
