Pick Up Takeout, Park for Free in Wilkes-Barre

Want to support local business and save some money?  At a city council meeting today, Wilkes-Barre Mayor George Brown announced that you'll get 30 minutes of free parking in the city when picking up takeout from a local eatery.  Also announced in the council meeting were the following:
  1. Relaxation of Meter Parking Enforcement around City businesses serving food, to allow an appropriate time of free parking for patrons to pick-up food—approximately ½ hour free parking.

 

  1. Encourage City employees to frequent City restaurants, delis, and coffee shops across the City for lunch take outs.

 

  1. Will be requesting City Council to extend the following payment schedules for tax payments an additional 30 days.
    1. 2nd installment to 5/3/2020
    2. 3rd installment to 6/4/2020
    3. 4th installment to 7/3/2020

 

  1. Continue cooperating with Wilkes-Barre General and Geisinger South in coordinating efforts and response. City has already forwarded over 1,000 protective masks to the Hospital.
