This November 3, residents in one Luzerne County community could be seeing a yes or no question. Will residents in Larksville approve a property tax increase to pay for a full time fire department? The decision was made last night at the borough council meeting to approve the referendum and to notify the county board of elections to get it on the ballot. The amount of the increase will be decided before the end of the month. It began when council and the unionized firefighters reached an impasse in negotiations for their contract which expires at the end of the year. Council says they can't afford the request. Firefighters and some residents say it's a matter of safety.
