Recently appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy released a statement announcing he was suspending changes to the USPS until after Election Day in November. The changes have come under great scrutiny over the past few weeks. In the statement, DeJoy said, "To avoid even the appearance of any impact on election mail, I am suspending these initiatives until after the election is concluded"

The Dejoy statement also listed the following assurances to the American people:

  • Retail Hours at Post Offices will not change.
  • Mail Processing Equipment and blue collection boxes will remain where they are.
  • No mail processing facilities will be closed.
  • Overtime has, and will continue to be, approved as needed.

Dejoy also announced an expansion of a special task force that will focus on election mail. This task force will include postal union leaders, with the goal of meeting mail demand headed toward November 3rd.
