2021 Scranton Santa Parade Canceled

The date was set. The participants were getting ready. 2021 was going to be different.

Until it wasn't.

WILK News Radio and our sister radio stations (98.5 KRZ, Froggy 101, and Max 102.3) were scheduled to be a part of this year's Santa parade festivities, but we'll all have to wait another year.

Here is the text portion of the official press release:

Press Release from Santa Parade, Inc.
RE: 2021 Santa Parade Cancellation Release date: October 18, 2021

In the past weeks, we have been reaching out to our participants, committee members and the City of Scranton to gather information on the ability for us to put forth a parade befitting both our community and Santa as the pandemic continues.

It is with a heavy heart that Santa Parade, Inc announces that the 2021 Santa Parade in Downtown Scranton has been cancelled.

This year would mark twenty-nine years since the first Santa Parade, which has grown to become a cherished family tradition that has created many fond memories throughout our area.

We feel that if Santa comes to the streets of Scranton, he should do so in a big, big way. So, we are working on something very special to brighten our holiday season next year.

We look forward to 2022, when we can, once again pack the streets and usher in the holiday season with bands, dancers, twirlers, community groups, holiday lights, music and of course, Santa.
