WILKES-BARRE, PA — The Luzerne County administration is scheduled to formally introduce its proposed 2027 municipal budget during Tuesday evening’s County Council meeting.

County officials have not yet indicated whether the preliminary spending plan will recommend a real estate tax adjustment. Under the county home-rule charter, the presentation marks the beginning of an extensive legislative review process, with council members retaining the authority to make line-item amendments prior to final adoption scheduled for Dec. 8.

To allow for public input and fiscal analysis, council has added two dedicated budget hearings to its calendar on Oct. 20 and Nov. 17, supplementing three regularly scheduled meetings throughout October and November.

Tuesday’s meeting is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Luzerne County Courthouse on River Street in Wilkes-Barre. County residents wishing to monitor or participate remotely can access connection instructions posted in the council’s public meeting section online.
