JENKINS TWP., PA — Incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan and Democratic challenger Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti have agreed to participate in a televised debate on Oct. 29, just days before voters head to the polls in one of the nation's most closely watched congressional races.
The 55-minute debate, hosted by WVIA Public Media, will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the station's Sordoni high-definition studio in Jenkins Township. The broadcast will air live on WVIA-TV and WVIA Radio, and will stream on WVIA.org as well as the station's YouTube channel.
The 8th Congressional District matchup remains a critical target for both major parties as they vie for control of the U.S. House.
